New to Chico, I moved here more-or-less five months ago, June-ish.  My entire family has moved here - parents Susan & Steve Tchudi and younger brother Cheetah - 18 months ago; my wife Heatherlee moves to Chico today.  We have 40 raw acres in Yankee Hill where Cheetah operates TurkeyTail Farm, which offers subscription weekly boxes.  Soon we'll build homes.  For now we mostly live in Chico.

I found myself an excellent position as the first Technical Director at KZFR.  KZFR, as you know, is a community radio station based in Chico that has strong support from 120 volunteer programmers. I've been there for two months: develop the website, provide technical support for studios and computers, maintain equipment, offer technical training, and whatever else is required.  It is a dynamic and interesting workplace where my primary purpose is to offer support to a huge pool of intrinsically motivated volunteers.  I see the work as protecting free speech and encouraging development of consciousness by broadcasting progressive ideas and music from the heart.

I'm eager to help local artists and entrepreneurs get access to the airwaves.  There are lots of ways to get on the air without having your own show.  Donate a copy of your recording to the station - we have a section in the library for local artists!  You can always call or fax in a PSA or Community Calendar item.  By working actively with programmers, we can offer remote broadcasting of live events, or recording of events for rebroadcast.  Many programmers interview local artists or pundits live.  KZFR is designing an entirely new studio which will have much greater support for live music in the station - this project will take a year (I'm guessing).  Really cool stuff though.
