BOHO ART of PEACE
The Art of Peace was a two-night event that brought together some of Chico's finest designers, artists, performers, local business owners, and friends for a peaceful gathering of fashion, art and joie de vivre.
The catwalk was a non-traditional stage in the shape of an ankh, which is the symbol for the key of life.
Models came out, one at a time, each parading personalities as scintillating as the locally designed clothing and accessories they embodied.
Friday nights' festivities included the lovely host Clarabel reading a poem titled, "In the Land of Peace,” as well as free Granny Smith apples, which were passed out during a rock song performed by Clarabel and her equally as lovely mother, Dena Moes.
Afro-Brazilian drummers, dancers and singers livened the space both nights with traditional afro-Haitian and samba dances.
On Saturday night, enchanting duo MaMuse co-hosted with Seamonster, who was channeling Lucille Ball as the master of ceremonies. Some of Saturday’s highlights were MaMuse’s musical interludes and a skit where Seamonster recruited artist Max Infeld for an interpretive dance to accompany MaMuse’s haunting harmonies.
